Short Biography of B.R Ambedkar
Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was the founder of the Indian Constitution and the country's first law minister. Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891, as the 14th and last child of his parents to a Marathi family in the state, even though his life was as dignified as his life. When he was young, his mother moved away. Being of poor and Aruan descent, he had to face socio-economic prejudice as a child. The school had to sit far away from high-class classmates.
Of all the siblings, only he was able to reach high school. His family moved to Mumbai on the 1897. Ambedkar was the only Dalit student to attend Elphinstone High School there. After graduating from Elphinstone College, he went abroad to study. Ambedkar holds a Ph.D. in economics from abroad. He was the first Indian to achieve PhD in economics.
He returned to India in 1917 and joined Sydenham College as a professor. However, he was discriminated against by the higher education system and resigned. It was at this point that he began the movement for the rights of the oppressed. He started a weekly Marathi newspaper in the 1920s, strongly criticizing racism and calling for the fight against inequality. He became India's first law minister after independence.
He was instrumental in drafting the constitution and in eliminating untouchable discrimination. He was disappointed by the widespread spread of Hinduism and organized a festival in Nagpur in October 1956 to convert Buddhists to two lakh Dalits. He died on December 7 of that year.
