According to a survey report published by Transparency International, India has the highest rate of bribery and personal use in Asia.  Fifty percent of the bribe-takers in our country are forced to pay bribes, according to the Global Corruption Barometer (GCB) report.  He doesn't work if he doesn't pay a bribe.  In India, the highest percentage of people pay a bribe of 39 percent, and 32 percent use personal contact for their work.

18 percent of people are said to be paying bribes to vote.  The survey was conducted by the GCB on about 20,000 people from 16 Asian countries.  It included six public services, including police, courts, government hospitals, identity cards, and public utilities.  The survey was conducted between June and September, recording the activities, perceptions and experiences of the people over the past 12 months.  The report said bribery in government offices across the country was plagued like epidemics.
